A Brief History
Villa Maria, formerly Villa Maria Academy, was built in the 1890s as a school by the Ursuline Sisters of the Central Province, a group of Catholic nuns based in St. Louis. Marian Hall, the main building, was built in the 1940s along with several other structures that were converted into a retreat and conference center in 1969.
In 2019, Villa Maria reopened as a venue for weddings and other events, and in 2021 lodging rooms will be added.
Multiple Event Venues
Villa Maria has a variety of event areas, both indoor and outdoor. Catering is handled on-site, and it is currently managed by the University Club of Saint Paul. The University Club has played host to weddings and other special events for over 30 years.
Reservations are now being taken for events beginning September 1st of 2020 - subject to any health directives.
